Alexandria Customs issues clearance for EGP 3.9bn cars, spare parts in July
Some cars were exempt from the payment of more than EGP 1.132 billion

Cairo – Mubasher: Alexandria Customs collected total taxes of EGP 1.105 billion for issuing customs clearance for cars and spare parts at a combined value of EGP 3.908 billion in July, the head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, Kamal Negm, said in a statement on Thursday.

The state-run body collected total taxes of EGP 664 million for releasing about 8,164 private cars with a total value of EGP 2.259 billion in the nineteenth month of introducing zero tariffs on cars imported from the European Union (EU).

A large number of these cars were exempt from the payment of more than EGP 1.132 billion under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

Additionally, Alexandria Customs collected taxes and charges of EGP 155 million for releasing 1,415 trucks, microbuses, motorcycles, and tractors valued at EGP 652 million in July.

Some of these vehicles were also exempt from the payment of EGP 44 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

The state-run body also collected taxes and charges of EGP 104 million for releasing 886 dispatches of spare parts valued at EGP 998 million, while some dispatches were exempt from the payment of EGP 21 million.
